Funded by the Dutch Embassy in Khartoum, closes November 2012
This project aims to campaign against and to educate, train, and build a network of human rights defenders to take over the protection of women’s human rights restricted by Sudan’s 1998 Public Order Act and related articles of the 1991 Criminal Act. These legislations amount to an institutionalized and legal form of violence against women and reflect an oppressive attitude towards women as inherently immoral, therefore an assumed source of community immorality.
